The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a thrilling T20 cricket league that brings together some of the world’s best players. One of the most critical roles in any IPL team is that of the captain, who not only leads the team but also shoulders immense pressure during matches. Captaining the IPL demands a unique blend of leadership, strategy, and performance under pressure.

Cricket fans trust the captain to make a valuable contribution to a match. In that hope, they back the captain to do well on an online cricket betting site. This blog lists the top five highest individual scores by captains in the IPL.

Captains Going Berserk with the Bat

KL Rahul holds the record for the highest individual score by a captain in the IPL. The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper made a scintillating century against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 2022 season. This knock would have delighted cricket enthusiasts who predicted Rahul would score a century in the match. During the game, they would have also won big rewards from an IPL betting site.

Here are the top five scores by captains in IPL history:

KL Rahul – 132* vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (IPL 2022)

KL Rahul gave RCB bowlers an outing to forget at Dubai International Stadium in the 2022 season. The opening batter smashed 132 runs off just 69 balls. He hit 14 fours and cleared the rope seven times. The unbeaten knock helped LSG post 206, which was more than enough for RCB as the Bengaluru-based outfit was bundled out for 109.

David Warner – 126 vs Kolkata Knight Riders (IPL 2017)

David Warner produced a sublime 126 when Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) hosted Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in 2017. The visitors asked SRH to bat first, and the skipper Warner took full advantage of it. The Aussie and Shikhar Dhawan stitched together a 139-run stand. SRH posted 209, with Warner smashing ten fours and eight sixes. KKR struggled in the run chase and lost the match by 48 runs.

Virender Sehwag – 119 vs Deccan Chargers (2011)

The fearless Virender Sehwag brought his A-game to help Kings XI Punjab, now Punjab Kings, down Deccan Chargers in the 2011 season. The Chargers set the Mohali-based franchise 180 to win. Kings XI saw they lose wickets in the powerplay, but that didn’t stop Sehwag from playing his attacking shots. He made 119 off just 56 balls, helping his side wrap up the chase with six balls remaining. The legendary batter hit 13 fours and six maximums in the match.

Sanju Samson – 119 vs Punjab Kings (IPL 2021)

Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson played one of his finest IPL knocks on his captaincy debut. Punjab Kings posted a mammoth 221/6 after being put into bat first. The Keralite led from the front as he made half-century stands with Shivam Dube and Riyan Parag. He brought up his century in just 54 balls but couldn’t help the Royals clinch the win. The inaugural IPL champions fell short by four runs at Wankhede Stadium.

Virat Kohli – 113 vs Kings XI Punjab (IPL 2016)

Virat Kohli came out all guns blazing against Kings XI Punjab in a 15-over match at Chinnaswamy Stadium in the 2016 season. The RCB captain made 113, including 12 fours and eight sixes, in which six maximums came off KC Cariappa alone. Kohli’s hundred came in just 47 balls. The breathtaking knock helped RCB set a target of 212 for the Kings, which they failed to chase down.
